Message Should be fine (subject line was to clarify you weren't talking about shorting the wiring harness & eliminating the sensor). The only way bypassing the connector would be bad is if the connector also served as a resistor/capacitor/inductor/etc, and it doesn't.

Obviously you won't be able to easily disconnect it, but that's the only downside I can see. Oh and I'm sure someone will be along to recommend that you solder the connections (throw some heat shrink tubing on while you're at it.

Don't twist & tape or use those stupid twisty caps...if "together by crimps" means you crimped those male & female friction plug things that will probably work fine but if they have bare metal you could still end up with a short (hence the heat shrink tubing).
